Hunting!

Each person in the horse hunt has to take it in turn to hold the hunting at their house. The other day it was my aunty's turn so we went to help. How ever one of my dogs is some sort of bread as a hound and got really excited when she saw them and ranaway with them. We didn't see her till at the end of the hunt the owner of the billions of dogs brought her back (quite angrily) but she seemed to have enjoyed her self.  We were supposed to help people around the land but to be honest I think we sent them all in different directions leading them all to get lost ..... Well anyway when they got back (eventually) they all had had a good time but were really cold and tired. Although my seven year old cousin had not enjoyed himself and had been crying the whole way! It was a really enjoyable experience and hopefully next time I can ride.
Hi again,
Sorry I haven't posted for ages but seen as the weather is very rainy in England and as you know rain and me riding don't go very well I haven't had the chance to go riding again. So I've decided to talk about my general thoughts and tips of riding. I love cross country riding because it gives you more space to go WILD but dressage really isn't my favourite because I of all people am a very messy, un tidy and forgetful person (I do try not to be) which means I forget a lot of the sequences you have to do and usually make a few mistakes. I've only been to one Dressage rest before and I came 6th out of 8 because everyone else was fabulous and the two which came below me had one girl on the naughtiest and stubborn pony I've ever seen and the other I must admit was a little wimpy and fell of and refused to get back on. I however came 6th because I stupidly fell of but I didn't come last because I carried on. I still probably was the worst rider but I don't really care as it was ages ago. So if you ever do do dressage I advise you to make sure you know the sequence first.

Hacking in the rain.

Hi all,
On sunday, I went for hack with my little sister in the forest. Sounds fun, well it's not, especially when your on a huge horse under low trees. I was so high up that I had to lean down basically the whole time. You see, one time when I leant down I thought a tree had finished so I popped my head up  but actually there was another tree right in front but I didn't see it because it was pouring down with rain. As I moved my head up rather quickly I hit my nose very hard on a branch doing this I put my head backwards in pain quite which I then hit my head AGAIN on a branch behind me and my hat feel off. I then out my hands up to my nose seeing as it REALLY hurt forgetting I'd dropped my reins which meant my horse kept trotting. Seeing as I was further ahead from my little sister because a big Horse is much faster then a Small pony when trotting I had to get off my horse. Tie her to the tree and put my muddy hat on my head which covered was very very muddy. When we got back we went in to the menage to do some jumping. After a while when we had put the jumps quite high I went to go over it but my foot slipped from the stirrup and I fell forwards onto my horses neck. I'm sure she was in a lot of pain when I decided I couldn't get back onto  the saddle. After a lot of struggling I went back and she jumped it again beautifully even though my nose and head still hurt. A LOT.

Mad Pony

Sorry I haven't posted for a while but all this bad weather has been keeping me from riding. Luckily last week I was able to go. My aunty's horse who I usually ride had gone lame but a girl who comes and mucks out for her has a pony and said I could ride it. First of all this Pony was HUGE and because I have never ridden it before was really excited. I soon learnt that this pony adored jumping as every time I went near a jump she started cantering but she was a very good jumper anyway. Although one jump I did she got a little overexcited and jumped way to early. This meant when I rose to go over the jump she was going down which then meant I had no other direction to go but down (and I landed on the floor). Funnily enough she didn't seen to notice and carried on trotting round the field with me running behind. I do hope I can ride her again as she did have a very funny but mad personality but maybe just stick to racing next time.

What I must look like ...

what I must have looked like at Pony Club..

Blog 2

Hiya everyone,
Yesterday, when I went riding, as my cousins pony which I used to ride was sold I rode my aunty's horse which no one really rides often so the horse was really excited and was very eager to canter the whole time. I have to admit it was quite scary seeing I had to go from an under sized PONY to an overly sized HORSE. Being on a horse which was to big for you but closer to the right size then a very SMALL pony made jumping a lot easier but a little bit scarier seen as you went much higher in the air but I did go the highest I had ever jumped on her. Quite often I went a little out of control and cantered in crazy and silly directions but seeing as the horse is quite a well behaved horse she soon responded and went back into place. I hope soon a horse might be on for loan so I can rent it for a few months otherwise riding my have to get a lot harder.

My First Blog

Welcome to 'Pony Club Pickings'
this is a blog about my riding life and the things I do to go riding. I can really only go riding because my cousin who is five years younger then me likes it and can get me and my little sister into pony club. This means  have to do some mortifying things just to go riding. This summer to go riding I had to ride the pony he rode last year which was very embarrassing and I had quite a few pony club Pickings! Seeing as it was so small, there was nothing to hold on to so I fell off quite a lot when we went show jumping. I was also the oldest in my group because I've only been riding for a year and these children have been riding since they were 3 or 4, Again very embarrassing seeing I was one of the worst in the group. I am tall anyway (which did NOT help) and was on a very small pony and everyone else were quite small for their ages and were on very big pony's. They probably thought I was very weird, which made winning them over a challenge! Which will be even harder next summer because my cousins old pony was just sold.
I hope you will enjoy this Blog and trust me there will be quite a few more crazy stories of what I have to do go riding.

Till next time - Aggie
